The Elrit Forest is a mentioned tree dominated plain region location in the Erion Sagas book series, it is located in the northeastern realm of Erion, this place belongs to the wild life that serves as a habitat for various animals and beasts, and also as a haven area for some main playable characters through the abandoned castle that stands on a hilly island in the middle of a lake pond of the forest.
This place belongs to the wild life animal species such as bears, bees and a jungle beast called Manticore, it has a pond lake on its center region that have an island in its middle that has a castle sitting in it, this area was mostly untouched of any conquering force and only serves as a meeting area for gathering forces, this place is the least developed of any human establishments to be built, as most of them do not wish to establish their structures in this area because they prefer to reserve for the wild life as its home, only one structure can be found in this place which is the abandoned castle located in a hilly island sitting on the center of the pond lake of the forest.
Bees are small insectoids creature that inhabits the elrit forest, these mob entities resides in their own made honey bee nest that hangs in the trees of the location, their main attack is a jab of spike sting from their backs that can cause poison damage effect overtime when got hit, these mobs also provides healing nourishment of food for their fellow dwelling creatures that lives in the same place as theirs such as bears by giving these furry creatures with their own honey food, their appearance is a gigantism of insects blended with stripe colors of black and yellow shown in their body and they to possess an alien like head on their overall appearance.
These creatures are toad aquatic reptiles that mostly inhabit the shallow swamp ponds of the location, pretty much like bees these mob entities can also inflict poison on their opponents with the use of their tongue as their main attacking ability that can give poison damage effect overtime when it touches it's opponents, the frogs can also cause little knockback in their attacks, as frogs are small mobs, it doesn't possess more abilities other than tongue sticking melee attack, these creatures can only mostly swim and jump a little distance due to their weak jumping ability and small sizes.
Goblins are exiled and thrown away evil pooks who transformed into pooka due to the evilness they possess in their hearts, they mostly operate as thieves and criminals scattered around erion and elrit forest is one of their sanctuary hide outs they use as their temporary homes as they cannot return to valentine kingdom due to their negative transformation status leaving them scattered all over the continent, elrit forest is one of their living space choices for their exiled status, their attacks consisted of dagger bashing soaked with poison liquid that can give poison damage effect overtime, they mostly wore only their clothes, lacking of any armor garments, their attacks in general are weak and has no effect at all to their opponents, without the poision effecting ability.
These mob entities are canine formed mammals colored in purple their main appearance is similar to a plushy bear, these animals are generally short and small in their sizes, it doesn't possess anything garment and only wears a pouch sling bag colored in peach-yellow where it stores a honey jar that it uses to eat and heal it selves when in rest mode for waiting their opponent to attack these creatures, their leg and foots resembles of a doll figure while their arms are bulky with a set of pair claws with four nails on each arm, their main attack is mostly bashing with their arms that has claws on it that can deal significant damage on it's opponents, it's abilities are only two which lies on bash attacking by swinging their arms that has a claw on it and healing themselves using the honey stored in their pouch bags.
These mob entities are giant beast lion like creatures that lurks the long pave path ways of the elrit forests that passes the thicker areas of the location where the creature dwells in the hidden small large whole spaces of the trees, these mobs are described as "guardian of the forests" by the bypassing travelers that often sight these creatures during their travel through the location, their appearance is similar to a lion that possess three elongated mouths coming from it's main mouth that have salivas that can inflict poison damage overtime effect on anything living it touches, the beast has the ability to perform charge attacks that deals a significant knock and damage, the colors of the mob creature is a reddish orange in it's furs and the body is colored in purple, the beast has a goblin like face, it also has a bulky scorpion like tail colored in black with a sharp needle point located on it's edge, these creatures acts as mini subtitute bosses in the location.
This mob entity is a giant carnivorous chomper venus trap like plant creatures that feeds on organic beings, it has an appearance of a giant venus fly trap infused with a dragon or beast like head shapes and it has multiple sharp teeths it uses to chew on it's victims ferociously, it's main method of attack is to chomp a bite on it's opponents and spread poisonous pores that can cause poison damage overtime effect, it has two lower heads attached on it's below body that resembles of a onionne in terms of shape, it's height consists of two adult humans and a half, it has a large mouth opening enough to engulf an adult person inside of if in one swallow, it is considered as one of the terrifying creatures of the location and acts as an another variant of the mini subtitute bosses of the elrit forest (this mob entity is only encounterable in the leifthrasir version of odin sphere).
Background History[]
The Elrit Forest has been always a home place for wild life and it is mostly untouched of any establishing structures being built anywhere on Erion, there was a time that this area had been subsequently subjected into occupation made by the Kingdom of Titania under King Gallon, as the king of Titania tried to expand their kingdom further north where the forest of elrit sits for more available space for houses to be bulit in order to have more people in their country, however this colonization expedition turned out to be unsuccessful as they lose a war against the Kingdom of Ragnanival at that time most of Titanian Forces withdraws and fell back to their kingdom homeland but during the attempts of colonizing the Elrit Forest.
King Gallon had bulit atleast one structure on the forest which was the abandoned castle, that he built in a hilly island located in the center of the pond lake of forest that was originally intended as a relocation of the royal family of Titania and an attack structure post that is surrounded with a better topography for protection against outsider attacks that will be made by their perceived enemies, as Titania lose war against the Ragnanival Forces, their withdrawal from the region made them to abandon the castle that their king has built in which where they have assigned to guard it and since after that event, King Odin advanced his forces into the forest after their victory against Titania and claimed the castle that King Gallon previously owned and built in a hilly island located in the center of the pond lake of forest.
Elrit forest is among one of the two places that are inhabited by the native wildlife along with the winterhorn ridge mountain, an icy mountain located in the western realm of erion, both of these places are populated with animal wildlife creatures.
Topography[]
The Elrit Forest is mostly forest dominated flat plains being encircled by connected river streams and it has a lake pond in its center region connected to the eastern river stream of the forest lair that has a hilly island situated on it's middle where it has a castle standing on it, it also features 2 large bed rocks that faces on each other with a river flow stream in between on the front of rocks hanging like a cliff on the western area of the forest region while the rock on the eastern side is attached to an another land area that belongs to the eastern region of erion where the Kingdom of Titania is situated.

The Elrit Forest has a temperate weather, it has a equalized balance of hot and cold environment.
Gwendolyn: Gwendolyn tracks Princess Velvet, the Forest Witch, deep in the Forest of Elrit. She demands that Velvet reactivate the Crystallization Cauldron, but Velvet insists that the Cauldron will doom the entire world and refuses. Gwendolyn does not heed her words and the two begin to fight to death. However, their battle is interrupted by none other than King Odin himself, who could not bear to see his two daugthers fighting. He tries to talk to Velvet, revealing to a shocked and dismayed Gwendolyn that she is her half-sister in the process, but Velvet (who hates her father for abandoning her mother) rejects any peace offering or explanation he tries to offer. Velvet disowns Odin as her father just as General Brigan -who has overheard everything- saunters on to the scene. Brigan is downright gleeful that he has the power of blackmail over Odin, but the liar claims he will not use it. He then captures Velvet and brings her back to the castle of Nebulapolis.
Cornelius: The pookified Cornelius travels here to find his beloved Velvet after he fails to convince his father, King Edmund, that he is the real Prince Cornelius. As he wanders through the forest, he encounters the doppelganger that he saw impersonating him in Titania. Cornelius threatens to cut the imposter down, but is horrified when his lookalike shapeshifts into the form of Velvet. She taunts Cornelius, saying she never loved him and wants him dead. The Titanian prince refuses to believe the person in front of him is really his love, and engages in a fight with the fake Velvet. Once he emerges victorious, his opponent reveals his true form, Velvet's twin brother, Ingway. Ingway admits that it was he who cast the Pooka Curse on Cornelius, hoping that his beastly form would embarass Cornelius enough to end his relationship with Velvet, as Ingway believes that Cornelius is not good enough for his darling sister. Cornelius wishes to slay Ingway right then and there, but realizes that he cannot hold Velvet with arms covered in her brother's blood. At that moment, he hears Velvet approaching and flees, not wanting her to see him as a blue rabbit.
Velvet finds her injured brother and is concerned, but Ingway tells her not to worry and quickly changes the topic to Velvet's "oaf" of a boyfriend. He tries to use Cornelius's absence to convince her to break up with him, but Velvet refuses to doubt her lover. She asks her to return her psypher chain, Graveryl, and to not take it again without her permission.
Mercedes: Mercedes, in the midst of a civil war against her cousin Melvin, seeks out the support of the sorceror Beldor who served loyally under her mother. Unfortunately for the young Fairy queen, Melvin's adopted son Oswald had gotten to Beldor first and already convinced the old man to join Melvin's side of the war. As she looks for Beldor, Mercedes is startled by a frog and drops her treasured crossbow into the depths of a pond. Frog, as Mercedes calls him, offers to stop her whining and dive for the bow, but only for something in return. At first Mercedes offers to not shoot any more frogs, but Frog is unimpressed, so Mercedes tells him she will grant just one wish for him if he retrieves her bow. Frog agrees and dives into the pond just before Beldor approaches Mercedes. She is confident that he will help her, but the sorceror reveals that he is already a faithful servant to "King" Melvin. He orders Belial, the dragon he has magically enslaved, to swallow the frightened fairy whole, but luckily Frog returns her bow just in time.
Mercedes defends herself against Belial until the dragon is defeated, causing Beldor to angrily attempt killing Mercedes himself until Frog leaps in to save the day. He makes use of his toxic skin and poisons the sorceror, who then teleports away. Belial recognizes that Mercedes is a kind creature and offers her his advice to act quickly in the coming rebellion.
Oswald: Oswald is sent by his father Melvin to persuade the sorceror Beldor to support him in his uprising against the new Fairy queen Mercedes. When Oswald questions where the old man's allegiance lies, Beldor claims he is an outsider and will stay out of the Fairy civil war. Oswald is not satisfied by this answer and threatens Beldor with his mighty Belderiver. Beldor is less than impressed and summons his enslaved dragon Belial to dispose of Oswald. Beldor is at first confident in Belial's strength, but is shaken to discover that Oswald's Belderiver is even more powerful than his dragon once Oswald defeats him. Beaten, Beldor agrees to support Melvin.
Velvet: Velvet makes her way to the Old Castle in the great forest where her half-sister has been transported. Gwendolyn had previously rescued Velvet from being executed, a crime which punishment's a sleeping curse from which she can only wake if someone kisses her, magically forcing her to love whoever it is. Velvet is concerned about her younger half-sister and wishes to see if there is anything she can do to break the curse. She meets Odin outside of the Castle, where he has just left the sleeping Gwendolyn. Father and illegitimate daughter discuss their emotions and resentments until King Valentine intervenes. He reminisces about his treasured daughter, Princess Ariel, and his hated enemy, Odin, love affair which drove him to madness. As the heated discussion comes to a head, Valentine commands his terrified granndaughter to attack "the enemy". Though she visibly trembles, Velvet obeys. She manages to bring Odin to his knees, who could not bring himself to use his full strength against his own daughter. Valentine, seeing Velvet lacks the strength to deliver the deathblow, steps forward to do it himself. Odin, who was only pretending to be badly hurt (although he admits no one is fully unscathed after an attack from a psypher), grabs the skeletal Valentine in one huge hand and prepares to crush him, but not before asking how could a father murder the daughter he supposedly loved so much. Valentine wails that he believed that if Ariel had any love at all for Odin, than her love for her father must have been a lie. He had loved his daughter so much that he would not allow even the rain to touch her, and could not bear such a betrayal. He succumbed to his blind rage and strangled her to death with his own two hands. Wracked with guilt and misery, Valentine momentarily repents for his horrific actions and begs Odin to destroy him so that he may find peace in death. Disgusted, Odin tells the wretched skeleton that his words ring hollow, and releases Valentine from his grip so that he may suffer for all eternity.
Watching over Gwendolyn together in the bedchamber of the Old Castle, Odin explains to Velvet that he had no choice as ruler of the nation but to punish even his own daughter for breaking the law, but things will not get any worse for her. Velvet disagrees, saying he is no better than her grandfather. Sitting on the bed near the sleeping beauty, she acknowledges Gwendolyn as her little sister and hopes that the man that will awaken her will be kind so that Gwendolyn may not suffer any longer for her own kindness.
Area overview[]
Elrit is a vast forest that lies between the kingdoms of Titania and Ragnanival, separated from the two kingdoms by two rivers. The abandoned castle that is eventually home to Gwendolyn and Oswald is also in the Forest of Elrit and can even be seen on the map. It also contains a lake and a swamp-like area where the bosses are fought.

The load screen title of odin sphere is based in this location at its northwestern part where it has few trees and a mountain from the background view behind the trees which is the mountain that surrounds the Ragnanival Kingdom and serves as a border between this nation and the forest itself but the scene took place at night.
Since Elrit has an abundance of poisonous creatures, it is recommended to wear the Detox Charm while exploring there.
Most of Elrit Forest was once a part of the nation of Titania during King Gallon's time as King.
On the Old Castle Terrace, it is possible to see Nebulapolis in the distance. It seems that while no one owns Elrit Forest, the country of Ragnanival unofficially manages it.
