(This mini boss mob is exclusive to odin sphere remake called "leifthrasir" where it can be only seen and this unit cannot be found in the original version of odin sphere)
Mob Profile Overview[]
Firewielder Phoenix Riders were the Phoenix Bird mounted elite cavalry of the Volkenon Army that mostly act as base patrols and guardians of the Volkenon Lava Pits, they are the second strongest mobs in this location and also as the second strongest unit in the volkenon army, they serve no any other purpose other than patrolling and guarding their kingdom homeland, they cannot be found anywhere else in erion except from Volkenon Lava Pits.
Although these units are powerful and proved to be too lethal for any of their will becoming enemies, none of them has ever been outside of their kingdom as none of them have ever been deployed in the battlefield for offensive attacks or invasion as the Volkenon Lava Pits maintained neutrality at the time of the main storyline event just like their titanian neighbors, compared to other kingdom nations, the fire kingdom itself does not seek power or territory and only kept to themselves so long as no other nations dare to infiltrate their home to which few would as the scorching hot land is only suitable for the Vulcan people. It's suffice to say however that if they did fight it would be a difficult battle for all in the crosshairs.
Whereabouts[]
These elite cavalry units are only exclusively found in the volkenon lava pits, they serve as the main patrolling guardians of this location, firewielder phoenix riders are the keepers of the fire kingdom from any entering intruders or foreigners in their kingdom homeland, they also act as one of the mini bosses in this location alongside with the fire vulcan child, these units cannot be found anywhere else in erion other than inside their kingdom homeland.
Appearance Traits[]
These soldiers have a child like appearance and seem not to wear lower body clothing gears on their legs, they wear a metal plate cuirass with stripes and dots aligned on their body armor, they also wear a metallic helmet with the same design, the spear weapon they use has a pointy magnet shape on it's edge in which they use as their main weapon for attacking.
The mount they ride consists of a fire phoenix bird with colors ranging from yellow, orange and red, it's legs appear similarly to their other fellow avian birds, fire phoenix bird facial features resembles the same of any other of their fellow birds that features long yellow-orange beaks and their eyes are colored in black with little white pupil that has a yellow-orange circle background on it's eyes edge, the vulcan soldier that rides the fire phoenix holds a chain attached to their mount's head that acts as their steering handle to control the fire phoenix movements into their own will.
Mob Battle Characteristics[]
These soldiers are among one of the most difficult mobs that can be encountered in Volkenon Lava Pits, they rush charge towards their attacked victim while pointing their spear weapon to inflict a significant high damage and a knockback status, like the fairies, dragons and other flying creatures in erion, their mount can also fly steadily in the air without any difficulties and possess a natural wings capable of flight attached to it's body unlike the wing gear equipment used by the aesirs to fly in the air that needs to glide overtime to maintain it's flight balance in the air.
They are also capable of shooting fire projectiles from their melee weapon through the use of magical power and their mount ride can also perform fire breathing ability that can give fire damage buff status effect that damages it's attacked victim overtime.
Battle[]
The Phoenix Riders stand as arguably the most dangerous of the new mid-bosses introduced in Leifthrasir as they have by far the highest damage output in general, and as their name and residence may imply, a frightening ability to easily inflict major burn damage to the player. Their attacks are as follows:
- Flying: The Riders can fly, with limited capacity.
- Swing: The Riders can swing their Branding Irons, this can be used downwards, or in 360° spin.
- Charge: The Riders can charge ahead with their Phoenix mounts leaving fire behind in the ground.
- Fire Spirits: The Riders can summon Fire Spirits which will pursue the player. They can be destroyed.
- Fireballs: The Riders can spin their Branding Irons summoning homing fireballs. They can be guarded.
- Ground Eruption: The Riders ignite their Branding Irons and then strike the ground, causing a tall eruption to rise, catapulting massive amounts of lava that rain down as fireballs. The eruption and fireballs last for awhile and both damage the player on contact. The lava wall cannot be trespassed.
- Phoenix Dive: The Riders will surround themselves in fire adopting the familiar shape of a blazing phoenix. In this form they will charge at the player from the air, and even fall down upon them. This attack deals massive damage.
Strategy[]
The Riders will prove difficult adversaries because of their massive damage output, with the Burn status included. The player should come prepared with large amounts of restorative items, and they'll likely need to recover HP from their strong attacks. Other items like Ice Spirits are very useful in mitigating much of their abuse of literal fire power.
The player should keep pressure and maintain their offensive at nearly all times, but by all means without forsaking defense, else they take a punishment that can easily cost them the battle. The player should be most wary of when the Riders ignite their Irons, as this will often signal the use of their Eruption technique that will deal extreme amounts of damage while in proximity.
The player should also keep attention of the Riders' actions. Being too far away from them without doing anything will often trigger their Phoenix Dive attack which is a rather persistent persecution. All in all the player should do their best to attack the Riders with their strongest offensive, but at the same time be as vigilant as they can about their actions to avoid taking unnecessary damage. Most important of all the player should keep their HP high at all times, and not engage in any offensive action near an Eruption as it can often lead to an instant defeat.
Abusing potions like Ice Spirits, Toxins, Cyclone, and Whirlwind should prove useful in both dealing damage and staggering them.
Background Story[]
Long time ago, a thousand year before the main storyline even started, vulcans are one of the magic manipulators and users of the world, and they we're the first users of this elemental power before anyone else, it is unknown how they obtained this supernatural ability, this is the method they used to create their elite cavalry units in order to give them fire projectile attacks ability through the use of magical powers that can aid them in their battle, these firewielder phoenix soldiers are among the oldest units in erion probably due to the very long time continuous existence of their kingdom way before the other nations came to existence in the same continent.
Although their kingdom had no any enemy at the time of their creation, their original intended purpose we're assistance in preparation and gathering for their kingdom maintaining and building or serving their king for their luxury life means rather than a fighting unit, they only became a fighting unit when wars started to occur around erion, prompting the Volkenon Lava Pits to convert their assistant units into fighting ones to ensure safety and protection of their kingdom homeland against any possible attackers or invaders of their lands.
According to the stored archives of the Volkenon Lava Pits kingdom, these elite cavalry soldier units started in sometime around 100-300 A.D. which is centuries before the main storyline event took place.
Fate Status[]
Like much of their fellow vulcan beings, these creatures are generally assumed and accepted that they all died during the collapse of their kingdom homeland when it is being engulfed by the oceans during the armageddon period of the main storyline event, these FPRs have no any cutscenes shown in the storyline as these units we're new addition to the game, by the time of the world's destruction process told in the prophecies, they we're unseen, because of this case, they we're all presumed to be killed after the collapse of the fire kingdom, none of them we're seen aiding their king onyx when he marched western inland for fire source for their lives, the only ones with king onyx are his female servants.
