Fairy Princess Mercedes of the Ringford Kingdom who later became known as Fairy Queen Mercedes, is one of the two tritagonist characters of the main storyline of Erion Saga book series (the other being Ingway) she was the child fairy princess of the Ringford Kingdom, she is known to be sweetful, playful and cheerful young care free girl, the death of her mother forced her to accept heavy and difficult responsibilities that her mother previously handled at early age, Mercedes became the second weakest leader in erion just behind King Edmund after the leadership of ringford kingdom was passed down to her when her mother died due to her inexperience of leadership handling, Mercedes is the second youngest playable character in the game and the first youngest in the main story plotline of the game and the she was one of the five playable main characters of odin sphere, she was the protagonist of the third book of the game, The Fairy Land.

Mercedes is an early teenager juvenile fairy princess of the ringford kingdom, who was forced to take heavy responsibilities of being a queen as she became one due to her mother's passing, her life became tragically difficult since her mother's death, as she had to bear the burden responsibility that her mother left, the leading of their people became her main priorities where she was likely had been put into pressure by her own people as their country needs a leader and only mercedes is eligible to take the position and the only available heir to the ringford throne as she was the only daughter child of queen elfaria, the previous queen of ringford kingdom before mercedes.
She was the youngest princess at the time of the main storyline event, mercedes is the only child and non-adult character figure that ever became a ruler in erion, she became a queen at an early age during her early teen ages due to the sudden death of her mother and this death of her mother resulted in mercedes bearing the responsibilities of being queen and thus promoting her in this status position at an early age giving her heavy sudden burden in her lifetime as their people needs a leader that will lead their country and their people without it, ringford kingdom may simply collapse again and form independent smaller group of fairy tribes that will likely fight each other scrambling for a unity power for the unification of their race that can only be obtained by the victorious and most powerful fairy ethnic tribe, in order to prevent this disastrous outcome, mercedes was forced to accept the heavy responsibilities of being a queen that was left to her hands by her mother.
Mercedes is the predicted world tree called "yggdrasil" according to the propecies, her death was inevitable as the future destiny of her fate in the propecies that destined her to be the main source of life for nature after the armageddon event, which happened after it, after mercedes death from being a fairy princess, she rebirthed as a small vine of plant that eventually grew into a large and tall tree over a thousand years later.
Mercedes is considerably classified as the least strongest of all five main playable characters, particularly due to her lack of experience in the war where she was forcibly put into situation as she became a queen due to the death of her mother, this tragic passing of her mother, the crown leadership was quickly passed to mercedes from her mother, she never underwent a military training and preparation for the war, she had only learned the bow weapon of her mother how to use it with some little aid and weapon forging from brom who helps her in some ways.
She is the second weakest leader in erion just behind king edmund, when mercedes ascend in the ringford throne to became the next queen of their nation but this status majorly changed incredibly when she was able to defeat demon lord odin in a duel fight in the ruins of the lost kingdom of valentine, mercedes was able to take the titrel ring from demon lord odin's hands and also to take the cauldron from the ragnanival military's control following his defeat, allowing the ringford military to make a claim over the cauldron machinery.
Appearance Traits[]
Mercedes is the youngest, juvenile and only non-adult of all five main playable characters, she is a 14 year old elf teenager girl, she is fairly small in stature and has a fair complexion. Her eyes are red in color (occasionally brown in some official works) and she has long, wavy blonde hair that she wears in two braids that frame her face. Her outfit resembles a white leotard with the top half of her sleeves and the portion resembling shorts being green with cuts in the fabric to display the darker lining. Additionally, there is a red gem-like orb located at the top of the leotard and she has a green choker. The lower half of her sleeves are skin-tight and black and her legs are otherwise bare save for her white shoes. She wears a crown that has three white flowers with six petals and yellow centers on her head and there are leaves on her waist. As she is a fairy, she has long pointed ears and her wings are black with blue and teal markings that glow faintly.
Personality Classification[]
Mercedes is initially a very childish individual, with multiple characters remarking on her youth or describing her as a "brat" when speaking about her negatively. She also wanted to go fight in the war with her mother despite not even knowing why her kingdom was fighting Ragnanival in the first place and often appeared to be very spoiled. Her mother's death and her expectations as the new Fairy Queen required her to quickly mature in order to ensure Ringford's survival, resulting in her eventually becoming a stronger individual more than capable of doing things on her own. Despite this, she still expresses insecurities about herself and cried multiple times during the course of her story, either out of grief, sadness, or the pain of being insulted.
Early on in her rule as Queen, she is shown to be extremely naive and privileged, she refused to listen to Ingway's warnings about Beldor and Urzur's scheming and believed that Beldor was loyal simply for the fact that he served her mother. She has a hard time believing that there are individuals who neither wanted to help or serve her in any capacity simply for the fact that she was queen. Also despite Beldor's previous actions she didn't think that Beldor would leave her for dead in the Netherworld. Despite this she is also shown to be remarkably kind and often expresses sympathy to creatures like Belial, even if they had previously attacked her. She also seems to have a weakness for handsome men, as when she saw Ingway in his human form for the first time, she became incredibly flustered and started stuttering, and even daydreams about his human appearance in the manga.
Background Story[]
Mercedes when she was little
Mercedes was born in 770 A.D. during the early medieval period, this is the time year that Queen Elfaria gave birth to her, during the early years of her life before her starting puberty and early teenage years, she used to play in the swamp ponds of their forest kingdom where she would hunt frogs there using her mother's bow that she borrowed from or would fly around in the tree trunks of their forest kingdom and took care some of the little baby myconid creatures as her pets.
When she got tired from playing around their forest kingdom to the point where she will fell asleep during play, any unicorn knights that will spot her would often lift Mercedes up and bring her back to the palace where her mother would take her and return Mercedes to her bedroom where she should sleep.
The Odin Sphere Leifthrasir: Little Fairy Queen manga showcased a flashback to when Mercedes was little. In an unknown incident, she was gravely injured and Elfaria was forced to rush her to the Cauldron, where she commanded it to release Phozons in order to heal her. Mercedes wakes up later on her mother's lap with all her wounds gone, much to her amazement.

Mercedes story starts at borrowing her mother's bow to train herself how to use it properly and to go to the forest around their kingdom to hunt some frogs in order to enhance her handling skill at using her mother's bow but her mother and Melvin are seem to be worried about her still not that being much aware of her responsibility as a princess of their kingdom, Elfaria is still taking a look over after Mercedes since Mercedes is still young yet as a being and sometimes she would even leave that to his older cousin Melvin when she is not around with her.
Mercedes seems reclutant at her assigned responsibility as a princess because it worries her that she might not be able to handle it all by herself, and in addition that she has no any handful experience regarding the royalty responsibility that she was given and must do as a princess and melvin would later intending to take that from her and going to step over for this.
Tragical Warfare[]
While Mercedes was hunting frogs with her mother's bow, she immediately informed by one of the kingdom's soldiers delivering an unpleaseant report to her, that her mother was critically wounded during the Cauldron War against the Aesirs therefore her mother was transported back to the kingdom palace and she was called in there and saw her mother lying down in the palace's floors, Mercedes was shocked after seeing her in severly injured condition, Elfaria calls Mercedes to her nears and that she was pinned down and the phozon powers in her body we're drained during the battle and told Mercedes that she will not going to make it anymore further, Mercedes cries in deep pain and sadness over this as she hears these words from her mother talking to her, Elfaria tells her to be always strong and independent no matter what comes after them.
Elfaria requested a promise to her to lead the war by her leadership when she became the next queen of the kingdom and make the war win over the cauldron's dominance because of it's content importance as it contains phozons that supports the life of their people and cannot live without it and Elfaria counts on her daughter Mercedes with the new given responsibility and leader promotion given by her for their people's hope survival and also that their people will be needing a new queen that will lead them in the future.
Elfaria confessed to her words and admitted her true name before dying in order for the heaven to accept her when she arrived in the afterlife (fairies belief only) Elfaria later dies after this and her body turned into a dozen of phozons slowly blowing away from one another separately and her body disappears thereafter, Mercedes was highly devastated of her mother's death and felt deep sorrowfulness from it, her mother's death made her the new queen and leader of the kingdom giving her new responsibilites for the kingdom and their people to lead and maintain.

Mercedes was offered by her cousin melvin to have some vacation after the tragic event and asked her to find beldor, a sorcerer from one of the three wisemen to make an aid request to him, while she was traveling through out the forest and reach the swamp attempting to locate beldor in the forest, she was bumped by a frog causing Mercedes to drop her mother's bow in the swamp and was unable to find it where it dropped due to the river's blurred look because of the pollution on it, the frog shows itself and reveal as a intelligent being as it can talk and apologized at Mercedes for hitting her and Mercedes asked why the frog it her and the frog said that there are many here alike itself and should not be there make an obstacle in the way to avoid getting bumped by one of them, the frog said that it can find her bow that she dropped around the swamp and promised to find it for her in exchange of granting the frog a wish.
Mercedes asked what is it but the frog wont reveal what is the wish, and frog insisted to accept it and she eventually agrees as she have no any other way locating and getting her mother's bow and the frog dive below the swamp's water looking for Mercedes mother's bow and while the frog is looking it, beldor arrives and informed her of that he was siding with melvin's along with his servant dragon that beldor commanded to aggressively attack Mercedes but before that could happen the frog just find her mother's bow in a nick of time and she takes it from the frog after finding it and Mercedes and the dragon would go on to a battle with each other and Mercedes won over it.
The dragon's defeat in the battle caused beldor to flee away from the scene and when Mercedes is just about to blow dragon she decided to spare it's life and the dragon was surprised with her kindness towards itself and that why she has no intention of killing a being that harmed her, and Mercedes told the dragon that it was not her nature to kill a being that is already unarmed not being a threat anymore, the dragon was heartfully touched with Mercedes kind words and warns her of a rebellion going around her kingdom causing Mercedes to say goodbye immediately and flee the elrit forest's swamp leaving the dragon and frog behind.
Rebellion Suppressing[]
While Mercedes is on her way back to their kingdom, she encounters a number of fairy loyalists who traveled to the Elrit Forest to look for her and brought Matthew along with them, Matthew informs her that Melvin has taken the 1/3 of kingdom's army on his side and she had the support of few noble fairies that sided on her some of them are from Melvin's army group that broke free and came into looking after her, though their numbers are too few to do anything with the situation, Mercedes got terrified and she began to panic and asking anybody's help to deal with the problem, the frog came into her stopping place and encouraged her with some caring words that will make her strong enough to resist the problem concerns, and she should take the responsibilities into her own hands as the new queen of her kingdom.
Later on, Mercedes traveled along with the few fairy loyalists on her side back into her kingdom and when they reached the outskirts of the palace her group were ambushed by Melvin's loyalist forces and send his right hand man to take her out, however it was weakened while fighting against Mercedes and her leadership ruling due to the halja was preparing to collect the soul of the Shadow Black Knight at that time as a result it was unable to deliver the full extent of its power to fight during the battle causing to lose the backbone strength of Melvin's battalion and fail the revolution and addition that most of her soldiers we're turned to frogs during the rebellion against the newly promoted incompetent and inexperience queen Mercedes by some frog that find her mother's bow earlier, making Melvin's soldiers being unable to fight during the battle and Melvin's battalion was defeated because of this and Melvin was mortally wounded during struggle fight in the rebellion he started to overthrow Mercedes and take the throne from her to become the new king of the kingdom, Melvin dies due to the inflict of heavy mortal wounds to his body's.
Later on, Mercedes was informed by her few loyalists that the rebellion was successfully surpressed and informs her of victory over Melvin's revolution and 4 soldiers of her loyalists informed that they tried to reach Melvin to arrest him but dies before they could be able to do so and reported that his Black Shadow Knight right hand man was facing towards melvin before he dies, and that the halja appears infront of them and at the back of the Black Shadow Knight preventing them from reaching and arresting him after melvin dies and forcing them to back off and retreat.
Reminding Commitment[]
Mercedes scouted around inside in the kingdom's palace after the rebellion ended and a frog just suddenly appeared in front of her and told Mercedes that the frog helped her against Melvin by turning most of his soldiers into a frog during the battle and reminds her the promise she made to the frog and indicated that the frog was originally human but cursed into becoming frog by one of the Three Wisemen and only a kiss from fairy princess of a royalty that can break the spell, requesting her to kiss the frog itself, since Mercedes have disgust over reptiles how poisonous, slimy and dirty those are, making Mercedes unwilling to kiss the frog and fulfill the promise she made to it.
Seeking Justice[]
After the end of the rebellion, Mercedes ruling and leadership was retained and her kingdom earned a peace temporarily for a short period of time that peace would be later shattered after a dragon visited the kingdom, the fairies were shocked and terrified in its sudden visit and Mercedes came out the kingdom palace to check what's the chaos she is hearing outside the palace and the one of the fairy soldiers informed her that a dragon is terrifying their kingdom and disturbing the peace and Mercedes asked if it was the beldor's servant dragon belial.
The male fairy soldier replied that it was not belial but a dragon that they have never seen before yet and when Mercedes confronts the dragon it appears to be having wings and color reddish brown and the dragon got enraged with it saw itself Mercedes showing her weapon with a sticked red crystal at the very end of it's tip which is the same crystal that is in the shadow knight's weapon and insisting it as the same psypher weapon as the shadow knight held, but though then it still introduced itself that it's name was wagner and it visited their kingdom because the dragon is looking for the killer of his kin dragon friend hindel who is supposedly from the Forest Kingdom of Ringford.
Mercedes told the dragon that she successfully suppressed the rebellion and won over it that melvin started against her and claims that her cousin Melvin's shadow knight was killed along with her cousin and banished, however the dragon laughs at Mercedes claim that she have successfully killed the shadow knight and does not seem to believe as it suspected and insisted that the fairies are customary deceivers and cannot be counted on with trust, and the dragon was not still satisfied with Mercedes answer and orders her to bring Hindel's killer in the winterhorn ridge mountains where the dragon lives and when Mercedes comes there to prove her claims she was attacked by hindel.
Mercedes was able to calm the dragon after defeating it in the battle, Mercedes made a promise not going to do anything evil with her psypher and wagner asked what she would do with it to which Mercedes answered that she intendedly going to use it to defeat the demon lord king of the Ragnanival Kingdom, the opponent faction of her kingdom, wagner laughed at her intention but allows her to leave the mountain peacefully but suddenly a frog appears and follows her and Mercedes had wondered why the frog followed her when she saw it and she eventually later took the frog with her and return to their kingdom's palace.

Back in the kingdom's palace, Mercedes asked the frog why it follows her in the Winterhorn Ridge Mountains and the frog replied that it was concerned for her safety when she traveled in that mountain by all herself, and reminded Mercedes of her promise to the frog itself but Mercedes told the frog that the deal off because she saved her from the coldness of the mountain atop and frog says it was a different thing to consider as she saved the frog itself on her own and telling that she still haven't been yet fulfilling her promise and it insisted that Mercedes still has the promise to do for the frog by kissing it, however Mercedes needed a strong psypher battle against the demon lord king of their opponant kingdom.
She has to find brom that will forge her weapon making it more powerful in the battle and thus will be able to destroy demon lord king's valor weapon which is by far superior than her mother's bow as she talks to her loyal subjects ask them the way to the netherworld and no any of them knows the way to that place which left Mercedes had no idea but to find and rely on beldor, one of the three wisemen and the one of who knows the way in the netherworld and that conversation was overheard by the frog but when Mercedes still reluctant to do the promise which is a kiss, the frog gains an idea from Mercedes conversation with Matthew and the rest of her loyalist subjects and decides to convince her in the way of giving her the information.
She needs about beldor's whereabouts to stimulate Mercedes with eagerness to do the promise for the frog then informs Mercedes and Matthew and their loyalist subjects about beldor's whereabouts and this made Matthew to question the frog that why itself knows a lot and about beldor and the frog replied that he was the one responsible for turning him into a frog as a curse infliction by him, later on Mercedes gathers her forces with Matthew to the kingdom of titania and the frog joins along with their journey to visit the kingdom's palace and ask its ruler for beldor.
Hunt Searching[]
As her forces reached the Kingdom of Titania they were escorted by 2 titanian royal guards, while they are traveling through the streets, the frog suggests it has feelings that she and her forces are being tricked out, and Mercedes questions the frog with them that why beldor would do that when she is about to inform of pardoning him from his crimes he committed in the forest kingdom of ringford which is supporting melvin's revolution against Mercedes. The frog suggests Mercedes that she should go back to their kingdom and stop searching for Beldor in an instance that they might be getting tricked without being aware of it and might regret it later.
Mercedes tells the frog that it was too mouthy for its own kind of being and why even wasting it's time coming up with them in their journey if the frog has to complain that they should go back in which that suggestion will make their journey time spent go to waste for nothing if Mercedes takes the frog's suggestion. Mercedes later flies off away towards the streets and Matthew and the rest of her loyalist subjects follows her, leaving the frog behind in the streets and later replied to Mercedes while she and her forces with her was away from the frog with because that the frog is worried for her and also for the others who are with her journey.
Sudden Ambush[]
After arriving in Titania, Mercedes after a while notices they are being led through the backstreets and is confused as to why this is happening as she expressed a desire to be led to the palace. The frog reveals that Urzur, the King's Aide, is an accomplice of Beldor and that their current situation is due to him and they are being tricked. Mercedes is confused as to why this is happening as she plans to pardon Beldor the frog telling her that he doesn't care or want her pardon. Mercedes naively believes that Beldor can be reasoned with and that he was 'loyal' to her mother, not realizing that he was doing this for personl gain than true loyalty. Matthew also expresses doubts, to which the frog tells Mercedes she shouldn't think that everyone would serve her just because she was now queen. Irritated, she flies ahead but as the frog had predicted it was a trap, she is attacked by Titanian knights and is forced to fight. After battling her way into the sewers she finally finds Beldor.
Crime Addressing[]
Mercedes speaks with Beldor reaffirming she will pardon him on the condition he releases Matthew and show her the route to the Netherworld. Beldor praises her ambition, courage and purity of virtue, but quickly tells her she is a poor leader as she was reckless, inattentive, and prone to deception. Mercedes asks if he will not help her, but Beldor is not paying attention speaking of how having Demon Lord Odin and the Fairies wiping each other out as a good idea but reminds himself that he has another mission. However he notes he does have time and decides to provide more chaos and confusion to Ringford, he asks Mercedes for her true name. Mercedes readies to attack only to be threatened with Matthew's death. He summons Belial to fight Mercedes, but Belial having developed a bond of friendship with Mercedes refuses to fight again. Beldor is angered by this and reminds Belial that he is under his spell, and uses magic to harm Belial. Mercedes is shocked and asks how he can force someone to help him.
Beldor showing his true colors says it's an honor for a dragon to be enslaved to a 'Wise Man' Beldor tells Belial he will keep him enslaved and once again uses magic to injure Belial. Belial falls in pain and Beldor commands him to attack again, Belial refuses and Beldor moves to use magic again only to be shot by Mercedes. Disgusted with Beldor's true nature she retracts her offers of pardoning and moves to end the sorceror's life. Beldor teleports away, alone Mercedes talks with Belial, Belial however tells her to not be concerned he cared for humans and this was his fate. However still angered Mercedes pursues Beldor. Beldor is distressed that Skuldi hadn't returned yet from the Fire Kingdom and is approached by the Frog who tells him that Urzur was preoccupied by the King of Titania. Beldor is angered but then 2 Axe Knights appear sent by Urzur. He manipulates them by saying Mercedes is an evil fairy that cursed the Kingdom. Mercedes and Beldor begin fighting.
Hampered Offender[]
Mercedes goes into a long fight dealing with the knights and Beldor's formidable magic in the end she triumphs and readies to shoot him but he teleports behind her and readies to attack her. The frog however is behind him and using magic he casts the Pooka curse on Beldor turning him into an old Pooka, oddly enough not turning into a goblin as that was what evil pooka become, as a Pooka Beldor could not use his spells anymore. The frog telling him he would never be human again, Beldor realizes then the true identity of the frog but is knocked out by the Frog before he could say anymore.
Fulfilled Promise[]
Mercedes finally fulfilled her promise for the frog by kissing it which turned out to be a valentinian prince named ingway
However the frog has used up the last of his strength to cast the spell and has been greatly weakened from being in that form for so long. He tells Mercedes that Beldor would remain in that form forever and to leave before he woke up. Touched by the frog's help and sacrifice Mercedes finally kisses the frog reversing the spell and turning him back into Ingway. Mercedes is shocked and blushes as she takes his hand showing she is strongly attracted to him. Ingway tells her he is the Prince of Valentine, that although she just saw his true form he would have to leave her. Mercedes tells him to wait as she could not succeed without him. Ingway however asks if she is here for revenge.
She tells him of course, and he reminds her that she has duties as a queen and he has his own duties. He expresses that he does want to protect her but he cannot fulfill that wish as he his own desires to fulfill. He tells her that she is indecisive but expresses confidence she will be a good queen. He tells her she should go on her own, and moves to leave she asks him for his name and he reveals it to her, Ingway and promises to see her again, Mercedes dreamly repeats his name.
Indicating Directions[]
As the pooka formed beldor wakes up and regains consciousness after being knock out earlier by some frog, he found himself tied up and Mercedes force him to come with her in the netherworld to show the way and locate brom's whereabouts there as they travels through out the netherworld. pooka formed beldor complains that he find too scary to walk around the netherworld and that he doesn't like being there and since he have already shown her the way in the netherworld so told her let him go but she was not finding it enough and did not get her actual intended finding the way in which actually meant to find brom's whereabouts in the netherworld then Mercedes recounts his mistreatment and slavery of dragon belial.
Which Mercedes reflected him in his actions as a karma and telling that he is experiecing what belial dragon had in him under his magic control slavery and Mercedes tells him that they will not stop until they find the way to the shrine or the whereabouts of brom somewhere in the netherworld, pooka formed beldor tells her that melvin ordered her to take brom and imprison him in the netherworld and told Mercedes he doesn't know brom's exact whereabouts in the deadline and that is all he knows as he explains to Mercedes then later pooka formed beldor saw a dead spirit standing close in front of them towards in the way where they are headed, when Mercedes saw it she got wondered if that dead spirit will respond to her but she asked the dead spirit anyways with the question where he can find brom in the netherworld but when it wont reply quickly enough.
Mercedes assumes the dead spirit that it doesn't respond and the dead spirit replies to her when she said that and Mercedes got scarly surprised with it's sudden answer to her, and tells her that brom is being kept in the shrine of the netherworld which was taken as a slave by queen odette to make brom work for her, after hearing this she assumes that brom is safe while staying in the netherworld while Mercedes is listening to the dead spirit's reply information that she asked from it and thank the dead spirit for the information it gives to her, pooka formed beldor secretly escape away from her captive when she was not paying enough attention to him while talking to the dead spirit, and when Mercedes found that pooka formed beldor was missing she did not attempted to find him and just decided to find brom on her own since that she has already a clue information regarding brom's whereabouts in the netherworld that she got from the nearby spirit she asked standing in the way where they are walking towards to, and also to point out that she can do it by all herself, because of this.
Mercedes didn't matter much concern about pooka formed beldor's absence while being with her and did not considered it as a problem as such, Mercedes decides to head up for the netherworld's shrine of her own to find brom by all herself while on the other hand, pooka formed beldor wanders alone with all himself in the netherworld after he escape secretly from Mercedes captive while being in the netherworld, pooka formed beldor was terrified and pointed out that anything bad can happen to him while being in there because of his pooka curse shape form status that leaves him vulnerable as he cannot cast spells to teleport himself away from the deadland and also to complain that he had been placed in the most unluckiest place that he can ever get in all of the existing unlucky places where he could have been landed into a differently unlucky place instead which is less unfortunate compared to the netherworld, where the halja lurks that can spot and kill him right there almost instantly, later on a halja appears behind him and halja said that there are some beings that bravely wonders the deadland around without having fears that they can be killed, and when pooka formed beldor turned on his behind he saw a halja and got scared, then the halja kills him while being in a pooka form in that moment after seeing a halja on his back.
The Liberation[]
As Mercedes is headed into the shrine of the netherworld, brom was seen there mining some jewels as he had been ordered by queen odette to mine some of it for her as a farming work assigned to brom by queen odette herself, brom spotted something figure an afar bit distance and decides to gets near with it and saw Mercedes on her back and shouted her name after seeing her in the netherworld and thus Mercedes also turns her back and sees brom as well and she glad to found brom in the netherworld and brom asked if she was also sent there and if didn't she became the queen of her kingdom after defeating melvin's revolution and Mercedes tells brom that she came there in the netherworld to rescue him.
Brom was surprised with her words that Mercedes came for his rescue and also to point out that he cannot thank her enough for the rescue she will be doing for him, then Mercedes instructs brom to follow her, as they two about to leave queen odette suddenly appears in front of their way where they are heading, queen odette tells that everything restless in her deadline and that he cannot allow brom to escape from her shrine and he has to work for her for eternity by making her some of the jewels in her shrine and to insist that is what brom life for, Mercedes introduces herself to queen odette and wished to speak to her, and queen odette asks that why she has to say that she is the queen of the fairies and her people in which is not part of her concern to be told about.
Queen odette explains that her land is where the souls is destined to go after their deaths if they lived a sinful life while they are still alive, and that queen odette explains and that they should not be even here wondering and accuses foreign visitors of her deadland as thieves for harvesting jewelry from her shrine, Mercedes later declares that talking to queen odette is not worth and is usesless and decides to battle her and the battle resulted in Mercedes forcing queen odette to be pushed away from her path and summons 2 haljas cornering Mercedes when they are about to make an attack against Mercedes the netherworld's shrine shaked and a ghost appears at the back of queen odette and informs her that king gallon is having tantrums while being chained in the netherworld prison, and ask the ghost to put more chain in king gallon's monstrous body to prevent it from having a chance broke up and escape the netherworld prison.
Since this is more a problem than dealing with Mercedes and stopping brom from getting rescued by her, queen odette ordered her 2 halja guardians to leave them two alone and gradually let them leave the netherworld in peace as she cannot take care of them both from preventing the two to escape her deadland due to their larger problem and that can cause worser than them and will lose something more important and queen odette also thinked that she will lose nothing if brom escapes the netherworld with Mercedes, unlike losing king gallon in her prison that can give a negative effect on the world and queen odette doesn't want that to happen so she prevents king gallon from leaving and causing world destruction by chaining it up heavily in the netherworld's prison for eternity, the two leaves the netherworld and head back to the forest kingdom of ringford.
Weapon Enhancement[]
Back in the ringford palace, Mercedes asked brom a favor to make her a new weapon, brom thought Mercedes was referring to making a new one like another belderiver that the shadow knight wields that can match the king demon lord's might valor but brom tells Mercedes that he cannot make build a forge weapon that is powerful as the valor and offers instead to enhance her mother's bow to make it powerful enough to destroy the valor when she confronted the king demon lord odin in the ruins of lost valentine kingdom, brom explains the instruction characteristics to Mercedes regarding her psypher how to handle it more properly after he made the weapon for her, later on Mercedes and brom visits volkenon lava pits to collect a fire sample.
Mercedes wonders why there is no around and ask brom if it is the inferno king's palace, suddenly a living blue cloaked rotten skeleton appears in front of while collecting a fire sample from a pot of fire pit in the lava volkenon pits and the living blue cloaked rotten skeleton explains that onyx was wounded deeply in the battle caused by belderiver psypher weapon the reason why he is resting and recovering in his wounds and also why he is not present in his palace when brom hears this from the living blue cloaked rotten skeleton talking to him, he was shocked when he found out that the former elite soldier of the ringford kingdom shadow knight oswald was still alive and shout his name thereafter, and asked who was the living blue cloaked rotten skeleton and that being was not surprised at all of failing to recognizing it and living blue cloaked rotten skeleton introduced itself that it was the one who commissioned brom's first psypher and brom was confused with this and asked if the torch is the source of fire and accused brom of tampering his jewels and even it's skull was filled with maggots it claimed that it can still remember.
Mercedes points her weapon towards the living blue cloaked rotten skeleton and it accuses brom of teaching the other dwarves with the secret processing of the jewels, brom later urge Mercedes to run with him away from the living blue cloaked rotten skeleton and when they get away a bit, Mercedes asked who was the living blue cloaked rotten skeleton that appeared infront of them and brom says he doesn't know why that living blue cloaked rotten skeleton appeared infront of them and the reason why that being is in with them in the fire kingdom, and tells Mercedes that it was the ghost of the former king valentine, which was the ruler of the land in which he calls as his former home and point out that the ghost king valentine gone crazy, and that ghost later re-appears in their infront again, and asking that how brom can be rude to his former master and regret of keeping brom alive.
Mercedes threatens to blast the ghost king valentine if it did not get out in their way and king valentine insisted that the weapon being pointed at itself which was made from it's former furnace as it claims does not frighten itself from it at all and asked brom if the red crystal in Mercedes mother bow weapon was one of the artifact jewels he made, and king valentine quickly and clearly acknowledged that it was indeed one of the jewel artifacts he made despite brom never said anything to king valentine, and it later shows it's dragon pet that is still a baby prompting Mercedes to say that it is a baby dragon, and brom saying it was a dragon with crown on it's top, and king valentine told the two that they should know very well of the powers in that crown they are referring to, and tells the both of them that the baby dragon hatchling has it's power with it, that also consumes the fire source, and made brom wonder asking, and king valentine orders it's baby dragon hatchling to attack the two of them before onyx battalions arrives in that place where they are in, in which the baby hatchling dragon approached them face to face and caused Mercedes and brom was walk back and the baby hatchling dragon shouted at them very loudly prompting the 2 to go back even further, Mercedes later goes into battle with the hatchling baby dragon and the battle resulted in draw and giving them time to leave the fire kingdom and head back to the forest kingdom of ringford once again.
Ultimate Seizure[]
Mercedes prepares to gather and rally her forces for their ultimate battle of the cauldron's quest against the aesir and demon lord odin, as they prepare brom approaches and informs Mercedes that he finished upgrading her weapon and shows it to her, brom referred the newly upgrade weapon as "masterpiece" made thing and brom still to pursue what he is always to be, a weapon "blacksmith" brom also informs that her cousin's former right hand man is still alive the one who wielded the belderiver psypher that brom made before for him, however Mercedes does not seem to care about it and tells brom that she can see it clearly.
Brom gives Mercedes an encouraging words to cheer morale so she can be highly prepared and competitive against her opponent and Mercedes gives him an ensurement that she will surely win the battle, brom renames Mercedes mother's bow from tasla to riblam in which the word means "the piercing one" in the old tongue language of the dwarves, and hands the weapon to her, soon later on Mercedes and her forces rally up in the ruins of the valentine kingdom, Mercedes tells her troops to be prepared very well in the attack they will be launching against the aesirs in the area, Mercedes tells her forces not to worry much about the loss of their previous queen as it will decrease their morale in the battle as they still one have another to be prepared of, and advices them to be always strong no matter what, Mercedes thanked forces the ones who believed and remained loyal to her and her leadership.
Mercedes tells her forces that they take life from the phozons and give their names to the heavens and that their land is full life of blessing and cannot survive without it and tells that the king demon lord opposes life and prefer to use the cauldron in his own interest and power and also intending to use it to attempt destroy and violate their land, Mercedes tells her forces that they will be launching their wraith towards the aesirs and not to fear anything, Mercedes shows her weapon to them and tell that it is upgraded with extended damage and power that can crush demon lord odin's valor weapon, Mercedes addresses her forces who died in the ruins of the valentine kingdom and assures that their souls will protect them from the heaven.
Mercedes tells that they had been underestimated enough and will show to the king demon lord their full extent of power to show that they can't be just stepped and disrespect as if he considers them as an inferior species, then Mercedes gave her forces a blessing in the name of their species, her troops later goes on and fight through out the ruins of the valentine kingdom against the aesir, Mercedes thinks that she can't let her guard down as no one is there who is going to help her and that she has to be strong in every situation and that she trembled with fear as the man who killed her mother is near of her, she also thinks about ingway and tells to him in her mind that she hopes to succeed in the battle.
Victory and Obliteration[]
King Odin hears the report that Mercedes' forces are overwhelming them Odin refuses to retreat however. He moves to engage the Fairies when he's approached by Mercedes and her bodyguards. He kills them with a single blow from his mighty Balor. He boasts that she should've brought more soldiers and approaches Mercedes who trembles in fear. He taunts her and speaks of her mother but instead of demoralizing her it only serves to fuel her ire and she tells Odin to not say her name. Drawing upon her mother's words she readies to fight Odin. A long arduous battle undergoes and Mercedes wins defeating Odin and shattering his Psypher Balor. In defeat his intimidating mask falls apart revealing the face of the old man hidden underneath. Odin is in disbelief that his Psypher the strongest of all could be defeated by a tiny bow. Her troops arrive and urge her to finish him off bu Mercedes seeing his true face realizes that should she kill him he'd be a martyr and would only cause his successor to continue seeking the Cauldron.
Instead she forces Odin to swear to never go after the Cauldron nor set foot anywhere the forest of Ringford ever again she will spare his life, the alternative being to invade Ragnanival after his death and wiping them out. Odin chooses to swear it, and even tells a trooper to inform his decision. While the message is being passed Mercedes makes one final demand, to leave the ring of the Cauldron before her. He does so and before leaving he asks for her name she tells him and threatens that she will always keep her bow pointed so long as she lived, an ironic statement. Odin leaves and Mercedes takes the ring and rallies her soldiers praising their victory and telling them to secure the Cauldron and proclaiming that peace would one day return. On the side Matthew praises Mercedes political action with Odin and calling her a true Queen. However as Mercedes would soon discover her promises would end up in vain.

Armageddon - [True Ending][]
Authenticity Verification[]
During these events, the Forest Kingdom of Ringford was attacked by the Fire Kingdom led by Onyx. Suffering damage from both this attack as well as Ingway using the Curse of Darkova manipulated by Beldor, (who would be later defeated by pooka formed Cornelius as he stumbled upon him while crossing into the burning forests of the Ringford Kingdom) Onyx doing this as his homeland that was destroyed from the rising sea levels and his people flee unable to live without their source of fire, in compensation of their destroyed homeland, they invaded and attacked ringford kingdom and use it's burning trees as a source of fire. When Mercedes awakens from her battle against Gwendolyn and losing the ring, she wanders around the ruins of the forest. As she travels around she finds Ingway's corpse lying on the ground, Mercedes is devastated by his death and call him a liar for not fulfilling his promise that he gave that he would return for her later after their battle against Beldor in the sewer maze. At this moment King Onyx arrives with his 2 Vulcan Swordswomen, he taunts Mercedes of his destruction of her forest. He also proclaims this as proof that the "prophecy" is false and the existence of the World Tree is just as false. Onyx did not find any trace of it during his raid of the forest kingdom. Angered and resolved Mercedes draws her bow proclaiming that she will not stop drawing her mother's bow and insist that her mother would never give up on her and the entire of their destroyed kingdom, their people and their hope, even if the kingdom of her mother and their people lies in ruins and ashes. Mercedes swears an oath to act as a queen until the very end through her death and to the grave. King Onyx admires her bravery and transforms into his true form to fight Mercedes to snuff out all of her hope.
Battle Aftermath[]
The battle resulted into a critical draw as both of them are mortally wounded after the battle, King Onyx is stunned as he realizes he is dying unable to understand why he was. Mercedes weakened and barely clinging to life apologizes to her deceased mother for being unable to protect the fairy kingdom and calling herself a failure of a queen unable to meet her mother's standards. With her death at hand she speaks her true name "Yggdrasil" which means the World Tree in Norse Language. She dies due to the severe injuries becoming phozon's like her mother and cousin before her. Her weapon, Riblam, being the last remaining trace of her existence. King Onyx, however, is shocked when he hears Mercedes true name during her passage to death. He realizes that the "World Tree" was not an actual tree but a person who bore the name. It is here he acknowledges his folly and Mercedes' importance in the prophecies as he, the Fire, was halted by the World Tree, Mercedes, before he died however he says that, by his understanding, the prophecy was incomplete. That in the wake of Armageddon there would be no survivors before crumbling to ashes his life forever extinguished and signifying the end of the Vulcan race.
Ending Epilogue[]
Life Reincarnation[]
After all the deaths of the monsters that are predicted by prophecy to destroy the world, velvet repowered the cauldron by sacrificing all of their 4 psypher weapons (Almacia, Belderiver, Graveryl, Gungnir) except for Mercedes mother's bow weapon, Tasla/Riblam, as she was hostile to all of them and therefore could not take the weapon from her to sacrifice it for the cauldron in order repower it to be activated again in an intention to release the phozons to heal the world, then she activated the cauldron after repowering it using the 4 psypher weapons into sacrifice and use it's remaining content phozons to heal the world so the life can flourish again, and the plants grow back from the roots of the rotten soils after this release of the remaining phozons from the cauldron when velvet activated it and got herself turned into a pooka after activating and releasing the phozons of the cauldron.
Mercedes was reborned as a small plant of tree and grows into a vast giant world tree after more than 1000 years and even sprung out a little root into the netherworld seeing ingway there looking at a daisy flower attached to it's root, Mercedes mother's bow tasla/riblam can also be seen in the roots of the vast world tree situated in the place where Mercedes have died 1000 years ago.

Queen Elfaria of the Ringford Kingdom[]
As evident by their interactions and the way she speaks about her, Mercedes loved her mother dearly. The manga shows scenes where they're rather affectionate to each other, with Mercedes leaping at and hugging Elfaria when she appears at the party following the Vanir's initial victory over the Aesir and crying into her chest over not being allowed to help in the war. Queen Elfaria's final words and death had a huge impact on her, as she was suddenly required to lead her country and would often question what her mother would do. She often compares her leadership skills to her mother's and, when she's dying during the Armageddon, she tearfully apologizes to her because the country had been destroyed and that she had been unable to be a good queen like her.
Fairy Duke Melvin of the Ringford Kingdom[]
Before his rebellion, Mercedes was rather trusting of Melvin and treated him like an older brother. She, however, noticed Melvin's suspicious behavior following Elfaria's death and recognized him as her enemy without showing any reluctance. During the rebellion, she refuses to back down when Melvin threatens her with death and, afterwards, when she finds out that he died, she accepts his death and never speaks of him afterwards.
Matthew the Advisor Confidant[]
Matthew has been Mercedes's guardian since she was little and she has unwavering trust in him as a result. She is also shown to be affectionate towards him, as she referred to him as "grandpa" multiple times even though they aren't related. She was quick to jump to his rescue when he was kidnapped by Beldor during the Wise Men incident in Titania and wonders if he'd hate her for not bringing him to the Netherworld with her to rescue Brom. All the way until the Armageddon, they were shown to be inseparable and, while his death during the Armageddon is never addressed, it can be assumed she was incredibly sorrowful in regards to him, as she was begging for any of her subjects to be alive before her battle with Onyx.
Dragon Belial[]
During her story, Mercedes show Belial great compassion following their battle in her first chapter, which deeply moves the dragon. It's Belial who confirms for her that Melvin is plotting a rebellion and, when they reunite in Titania's sewer system, he refuses to attack her despite the Wise Men's control on him. Before leaving him, Mercedes expresses sadness that Belial can't fight back against Beldor without hurting himself. Presumably, she doesn't find out about him ultimately being killed by Cornelius.
Prince Ingway of the Valentine Kingdom[]
Mercedes was initially not all that friendly with Ingway when they first met, who she knew at the time as simply "Frog." Although he retrieved her bow, which she had dropped in the swamp, Mercedes was initially near-indifferent to him and flew away twice without a second thought. It's Ingway, however, that encourages her to take the lead of her people and he plays a similar role to Matthew during the time that he spends with her, giving her advice before her return to Ringford Palace. Mercedes was disgusted that Ingway wanted her to kiss him to break the curse on his body and she spent a good deal of time holding off on her promise, which often caused them to bicker with each other. When Ingway nearly kills himself saving her from Beldor, Mercedes finally keeps her promise out of compassion and sympathy and kisses him, changing him back to his human form. Upon seeing him, she becomes incredibly flustered due to his apparent attractiveness, which is quickly changed to confusion and unhappiness when Ingway tells her he needs to leave. After learning his name, Ingway promises to meet her again and Mercedes is shown to think of him often.
Unfortunately in the canon ending, Ingway suffered the fate of being mercy killed during the Armageddon by Cornelius. While flying around the ruins of Ringford, Mercedes stumbled across his bloody corpse and broke down in tears, calling him a liar for breaking his word. Her mourning is interrupted by Onyx and, subsequently, she joins him in death following her battle against the Inferno King. Whether they truly met again as a result wasn't addressed in the original PS2 game, but a new endcard in Leifthrasir shows that the roots of World Tree have extended to where Ingway is in the Netherworld, indicating that Mercedes still loves him despite breaking his promise.
Mercedes does have a unique False End cutscene where she meets Ingway again if sent to fight the Darkova. Before the battle, Mercedes is reluctant to attack after finding out the monster attacking Ringford is actually Ingway. After the battle as she lies dying in his arms, Mercedes proudly tells Ingway of her accomplishments and, using her last breath, she confesses her feelings of love for him before fading away into Phozons. Ingway screams for the heavens to kill him after this since he realized he also loved her, but Mercedes never gets to hear this.
Demon Lord Odin[]
Mercedes never officially meets Odin until the epilogue of her story. However, because he was the one who killed her mother, Mercedes holds a deep hatred of him. Due to his strength and power, she is also scared of him and the second half of her story has her going to great lengths to obtain the necessary materials to defeat him. When they finally meet each other on the battlefield, Mercedes starts crying due to Odin insulting her mother's name, but stands firmly and fights him bravely. After defeating him and breaking the Balor, she was given the choice to kill him, but she chooses not to, as it would make him a martyr. Before having her fairies lead him away, Mercedes promises that, as long as she lives, she will always keep her weapon pointed at him.
Beldor the Green Sorcerer[]
Mercedes initially considered Beldor a trusted ally, as he had been very loyal to her mother when he served in her court. Beldor proved to be treacherous, however, as he agreed to side with Melvin during the rebellion and she was forced to fight Belial as a result. Mercedes considered pardoning him for his treason when she needed him to guide him to the Netherworld, but his kidnapping of Matthew, abuse of Belial, and threats made her reconsider and they fight again. She is able to defeat him, although Beldor almost manages to catch her with a sneak attack. Ingway curses him into a Pooka before he's able to harm her, though. Afterwards, Mercedes makes him guide her to the Netherworld, although she eventually loses track of him because she wasn't paying attention and never canonically finds out that he was caught and killed by the Halja.
In the False End if Mercedes is pitted against Darkova, Mercedes is surprised to see Beldor again in his rotten appearance and refuses to give into his demands regarding the Ring of Titrel. She only holds back against attacking him and the Darkova when she finds out that the beast is actually Ingway. After the battle, she is almost strangled by him, only for Beldor to be stabbed by Ingway.
Inferno King Onyx[]
Although Mercedes traveled with Brom to Volkenon in order to obtain some of the Origin of Fire for the forge and even fought Vulcans along the way, Mercedes did not meet Onyx and never sees him until the canon events of Armageddon, although she's able to immediately recognize and refer to him by name when that happens. When Onyx rudely interrupts her mourning of Ingway and expresses glee over the world burning, Mercedes tells him not to be smug and that he's going to die with the world. After stating that she was going to remain a queen despite the destruction of the country, Mercedes does battle with Onyx. Although she is able to defeat and kill him, Mercedes is mortally injured in the process and, out of grief for having evidently failed as a queen, is completely oblivious to his own dying sentiments as she reveals her true name and ascends to the heavens.
Oswald the Shadow Knight[]
Although not familiar with him, Mercedes expressed open friendliness to Oswald when they met in the hub of Chapter 1 of Fairy Land, although Oswald immediately brushes her off due to "not feeling well." (It's revealed in his story that he was actually contemplating on killing her.) They end up doing battle against each other during Melvin's rebellion and Mercedes defeats him. She shows no regret or sorrow over him being taken by the Halja and is otherwise indifferent to him. When Brom requested her to allow him to be with Oswald to make amend for ruin his life, Mercedes accepted it and hoped that he'll be able to help the him. While they never crossed path again after their confrontation, in the manga, Mercedes and Brom ran into him in the Fire Kingdon after his fight with King Onyx. Both were shocked that not only he survived but he had the Titrel ring around his neck. Oswald told them that he had no intentions in using the ring nor handling it back to them. He only came for "her" whom Brom recognized as The Valkyrie and Odin's daughter, Gwendolyn. Oswald bears no ill wills towards the new queen from their last battle at the Fairy Kingdom. Mercedes called him to say that he has changed since their last encounter which Oswald responded with a smile that it was the "fateful meeting" as he left the Fire Kingdom with the slumber Gwendolyn.
Notable Committed Murders[]
- Inferno King Onyx - To stop him and his people from using the burning ruins of her kingdom homeland as their new home and source of life, and that she may have also thought that he was the one who killed ingway, when it was actually cornelius who did in order to remove his curse suffering from the darkova beast transformation he had and from being a slave of the three wise men while he was being under control by beldor.
Gameplay (PS2)[]
Mercedes had basic skills in this version of the game, most of her psypher skills are about shots, her psypher weapon is the only one that doesn't learn cyclone, she learns piercing shot instead, her energy fighting is not "POW" but "AMMO" instead this is because Mercedes uses a range psypher weapon and she is the only shooting playable character in all of the game's 5 playable characters and she also has the lowest HP maximum and has the slowest speed in the game as a playable character but she can fly steadily unlike gwendolyn's flying skills which is limited compared to Mercedes due to her natural wings of her body.
Gameplay (OSL)[]
Mercedes tactics remains the same as she did in the original odin sphere but she has a greater variety of attacks in Leifthrasir she also has a dash while in mid-air and unique to her are special bullet hell sections where she has to fly and fire at enemies while moving forward across the screen. These bullet hells can sometimes contain special items so it's best to watch out for them. Also when she doesn't fire after a while she will auto charge a single powerful shot. Unlike other characters she does not have a side attack, instead when she's flying she will fly at much faster speed while holding down Left or Right + the Square Button.
Mercedes is unique in that she contains only 3 POW based Skills and 13 Magic Skills the highest number among all protagonists. This is due to the fact her weapon is a ranged weapon so she has little need for physicals and needs skills that enhance her barrage of arcane bolts.
POW Skills[]
Her POW Skills include:
- Slip Slide: Usable only on the ground she'll slide forward rapidly firing a spray of bolts that arc up and come back down. A great escape tool while also dealing substantial damage as it deals damage both going up and coming down both counting as separate hits.
- Lunarside Shot: She'll jump into the air in a great arc firing down on a location as she does so. Another great escape tool but also a good way to focus fire on a singular target while getting out of harms way.
- Energy Shot: she concentrates energy and fires out a powerful beam of energy that pierces through enemies allowing her to deal heavy damage to multiple enemie at once.
Magic Skills[]
Her Magic Skills are highly varied and are different shots, originally some of these shots appeared in the Original Odin Sphere but only while she was a boss.
- Round Shot: Mercedes fires a giant powerful penetrating shot that deals a great amount of damage at short range. This is one of the few abilities from Odin Sphere that carried over to Liefthrasir and costs 6 PP to use making a great powerful damaging shot.
- Phozon Burst: Mercedes unleashes a blast of energy that will send enemies and mini-bosses flying while dealing a great deal amount of damage. Another ability from Odin Sphere that carried over to Liefthrasir and it costs 4 PP making it a great 'get off me' tool.
- Spread Shot: Mercedes fires a rapid stream of blasts raising her bow as she does this accumulating a massive amount of damage and stun while doing this. This is a great ability to break through Mini-boss armor as well as amassing a massive hit count for higher grades. It costs 8 PP.
- Hunter Shot: Mercedes fires 3 energy bullets that will hunt down and damage enemies dealing damage going through an enemy only to home back in and deal damage again. These last for a short time but are a great way to get enemies knocked up into the air, it costs 9 PP to use.
- Flash Shot: Mercedes will load a round then fire a small bullet that flies a short distance before exploding in a burst of light that deals damage and will typically deal the Dizzy Effect on enemies caught in the blast radius. Costs 10 PP to use.
- Earth Roar: Mercedes will fire a powerful shot into the ground causing a series of shockwaves to erupt deals damage with each wave and pushes them back.
- Burst Rain: Mercedes while fire an arcane bolt into the air which will hover and begin firing a raining series of shots in a general downward direction. When done correctly this is a great way to deal damage on knocked down enemies or being used as wall against weak one hit kill enemies. It costs 18 PP to use.
- Unlimited Ammo: This is the first of her Support type skills, this makes her weapon able to shoot unlimited amount of bolts for a short time. Making it perfect for setting up juggling series of shots. It costs 11 PP to use.
- Mandragora March: This is a very Unique skill, it will make any Mandragora on the ground suddenly walk again and become filled with Phozon they will attack anything and everything in range each with some having unique effects. Turny for example put on the Freeze status onto enemies, Habaneristo will apply burn, and Cubsbane applies poison. When there's only a few it's a weak skill BUT if one were to empty their entire reservoir of Mandragoras in their bags this becomes a VERY powerful skill. It costs 12 PP to use, and a word of warning once it ends the Mandragora are wild again and have to be knocked out to be collected once again.
- Banshee Call: This is the first of her Shot Assistance Skills, when used Mercedes will summon a spirit in the shape of a Phozon butterfly, each time Mercedes shoots it will fire a bullet that bounces on the ground dealing damage with each bounce. This is great tool on ground based enemies, and costs 13 PP to use. Also it is possible to summon 2 spirits to increase the damage.
- Pixie Call: Her second Shot Assistance Skill, once again she summons a spirit but this one will fire a powerful arcing shot that explodes when it hits the ground. This is a great anti-air AND anti-ground shot as it can deal a hefty amount of damage from the explosion. It costs 13 PP and like Banshee Call one can summon 2 spirit not only that but one can have one Pixie Spirit and one Banshee Spirit for extra range of damage.
- Spirit Call: Her Final Shot Assistance Skill, This one is unique in that cannot have more than one of this type, it CAN however be used alongside doubles of the previous two. This summons a spirit that also has 3 other smaller spirits, and this spirit fires shots alongside Mercedes, thus increasing her overall shot potential. This allows her to fire a never ending barrage of fire that can deal tremendous amounts of damage. It costs 16 PP to use but compared to her previous two skills this one lasts the shortest among them.
- Brionac: Her Final Magic Skill and her Ultimate Skill, Mercedes gathers energy from the enviroment causing a tree to grow at her feet, she then fires a single massive bolt into the air which flies high into the air, it then explodes and splits into hundreds of arcane bolts that rain down like a red rain of death. Costs 50 PP to use.
As a Boss[]
Mercedes is a recurring boss character who is fought by Gwendolyn, Cornelius, and Velvet in Chapter 6, Chapter 5, and Chapter 2 of their respective stories. (Oswald also ends up fighting her, but the player is controlling her while he functions as the boss instead.)
In both the original PS2 release and in Leifthrasir, her attacks match up with all her skills found in her regular gameplay. In the PS2 version of her fight, she both walks across and flies through the battle stage, utilizing her bow to hit players from a distance. She will use Piercing Shot whenever she can to inflict massive damage on the player character, although multiple uses eventually require her to stop and absorb Phozons in order to use it again, giving the player a chance to attack her. Occasionally to restore her health, she will also stop and eat Napples, which also leaves her vulnerable.
In Leifthrasir, her attack arsenal has been updated to match with her new skill tree. She seems to prefer utilizing Round Shot and Hunter Shot during her battles and will make frequent use of Xtra Phozon bottles in order to keep her weapon fully functional. Instead of eating Napples, she now eats Muggle fruits.

- She stars in her own spin-off manga, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir: Little Fairy Queen.
- Her voice in Japanese is provided by Mamiko Noto. Her English voice actress is Stephanie Sheh.
- Her true name, Yggdrasil, is a direct reference to the World Tree of Norse Mythology. The World Tree connects the nine worlds and is also where Leif and Leifthrasir take shelter during Ragnarok.
- She could also potentially be a nod to Iðunn, a Norse goddess who is associated with apples and youth.
- She is the only main playable character to never fight Brigan although she fought Demon Lord Odin in the lost Kingdom of Valentine as her last boss rivalry in the main storyline.
- She was originally intended to be named as "Titania" by the game developers in referance to the old norse mythological princess titania, however before they could have thinked of implementing this to be done so, they have already put the name into a kingdom nation and the game developers does not want to undo all of their long hard works they have made for the kingdom of titania including it's given name to it, so they instead they named her "Mercedes" which they took and derived the name from the spanish version of "Mother Mary" which is called "María de las Mercedes" a jewish woman who lived in the first century during the roman empire era period of israel who was the wife of saint joseph and mother of jesus christ it is still unknown why game developers chose to take this name from mother mary and name it to her.
- Mercedes was designed as a Celtic fairy with other influences for her appearance stemming from Princess Crown.
- Officially, the flowers of Mercedes's crown have six petals. Some official artwork and merchandise, however, decreases this number to five.
- In Little Fairy Queen, Mercedes is given additional variations on this crown. During her flashback with Elfaria, she wears a crown made up of a number of small flowers that resemble daisies while, up until chapter 5 when she begins her battle with Oswald, she wore a crown of leaves.
- Employees at Vanillaware are aware of her sharing her name with the car brand, as George Kamitani remarks in the Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir Artworks book that it makes her name "easy to remember."
- She's the only character who, besides grunting and screaming, speaks more than one line during standard gameplay

- mercedes will always ends up dying on any bosses she takes to challenge in the armageddon after her battle to any of the bosses there, as the game developers of odin sphere intended her to die during the armageddon event of the main storyline, whenever path she takes during the armageddon event her death is always inevitable, this is basically based on the old norse mythology foretold lines that all fairies are supposedly to die during the world's destruction and eventually it's rebirth suggesting that the old norse mythology and it's poem creators largely believe that fairies was actually very real creatures and they co-existed with humans at the same time similar to dinosaurs with crocodiles, however the other one was not able to survive while the another one was able to, just like the dinosaurs that did not able to survive during the extinction event of pangaea while crocodiles was able to survive, this was used by the odin sphere's game developers as a comparison between the humans and the fairies, the old norse mythology poem tales clearly tells that fairies was not able to survive during the armageddon event of the ragnarok main storyline while humans was able to survive and thrive after the world's destruction and eventual rebirth, this mentioned part in the old norse mythology epic poem fortold tales suggests as in the odin sphere game itself that mercedes death in the armageddon event of the main storyline marked the extinction of the fairies race as she was the last kind of them, her death was a referrence to the extinction of fairies that has been mentioned in the stanza lines of old norse mythology epic poem folklore tales.
- So far, all her official figurines have her posing with Ingway in his frog form.
- By the time of armageddon, most of all of characters and all of the playable ones except Mercedes are already stateless by status at this time, she was the only active member of royalty out of all main playable characters, Mercedes was the last of her kind to be alive and to die from the wounds she sustained in the battle after battling Onyx and onyx also having the same faith as her.
- Mercedes has the curious distinction of being the only main character to have fought all other four main playable characters, She has fought, Gwendolyn who wanted Titrel for Oswald, Cornelius when he was protecting Velvet, Oswald during the Rebellion of Melvin, Velvet when Velvet stole back the ring from the Fairies, and Odin in her final main story battle and destroying his Balor.
- There was even a theory about her when she was speculated to be alice's mother as a reincarnation when a 2015 famitsu weekly magazine of odin sphere was released featuring alice in it's front cover and a couple figure on her back, who we're presumably her parents and it appears that they resemble mercedes and ingway, this gives fans theory idea that alice's parents we're reincarnation of mercedes and ingway as they did not had a good ending in the true ending of the game in as a speculating compensation for this, they we're reincarnated later as alice's parents who we're born 1000 years ago after the main events of story of the game.
