Odin Sphere is a japanese two-dimensional european medieval fantasy role playing game created and released in 17th of may 2007 by Vanillaware for the platform console PlayStation 2.
Plotline[]
The game starts off in the early years of the 19th century (1800s) in the year 1822 with a young girl named Alice who finds a collection of books in the attic of her family's house telling her the story of a land called Erion. It was described as a "magical world" by herself although she assumed and believed the story as a fictional only, this story tells the five individual historical legend hero figures who fought to save the world.
Odin Sphere's main story era timeline took place during the early medieval period at the near end of the 8th century, starting in year 784 A.D.. During the main story event after Alice starts reading one of the Erion Saga series books, and its main story plotline is called Erion Saga, the game tells the story of five individual historical legend hero figures who saved the world from an entire destruction tied in their fate, each of the five main playable characters wears a weapon called Psypher, it is a crystal wielded powerful weapon that can absorb phozons and each of their perspective side of story are connected to one another and every one of them takes a different course; there are times that they will meet another character being either as an ally or an enemy or sometimes some have never met at all.
Storyline Books[]
Book 1: Valkyrie[]
This is the first book to be read by Alice, this book's protagonist character is Gwendolyn, one of the two princesses of the Ragnanival Kingdom. This tells of her journey to win her father's love after her older sister Griselda dies due to Brigan's incompetence. In the story she will become the center of events involving the [[Titrel Ring|ring Titrel], the Shadow Knight Oswald, and set in motion the final events toward Armageddon, while also learning and earning True Love.
Book 2: The Pooka Prince[]
Second Book to be read by Alice, this book's protagonist character is Cornelius, he was the noble prince of the Kingdom of Titania who was doomed to become pooka, a curse that will not be broke until an over millenium later, this book shows and tells Cornelius perspective side of the story.
Book 3: Fairy Land[]
Third Book to be read by Alice, this book's protagonist character is Mercedes, the early-teenager child fairy princess of the Ringford Forest Kingdom, she was the youngest main playable character in the main story, who leads their entire nation and became a queen at early age after her mother due to her passing in the early part of the main story, this book shows and tells Mercedes perspective side of the story.
Book 4: The Black Sword[]
Fourth Book of the game to be read by Alice, this book's protagonist is Oswald, an adopted human who was raised by the fairies to become a shadow knight and an elite soldier to serve in the fairy Ringford Forest Kingdom, he later abandon his allegiance from it after the death of his adoptive fairy duke father and later worked as an independent contractor in other nations, this book shows and tells Oswald's perspective side of the story.
Book 5: Fate[]
Fifth Book to be read by Alice and the last book to be read of any main playable characters in the main story of the game, this book's protagonist is Velvet, one of the two valentine children twins (the other being Ingway), whom a princess of Valentine Kingdom and became stateless after their kingdom was destroyed caused by the backfired action of her grand father who went from being kind to a mad insane king after finding out that his daughter bore a child from a perceived enemy nation, she temporarily seek shelter in the abandoned castle situated in the center of Elrit Forest that was owned by her father and that was previously bulit by King Gallon during his northern conquest expansion of his Kingdom of Titania, but this would be later given to Oswald and Gwendolyn after his older twin brother betrayal to their father when he gives the Ring Titrel to the fairies, this book shows and tells Velvet's perspective side of the story.
Book 6: Armageddon[]
Sixth Book of the read by Alice and also the last book to be read by her, this book shows and tells the five main playable characters in the main story of the game how they saved the world, fought bosses and defeated it that were considered as the five greatest disasters that will cause the destruction and end of the world.
Book 7: Wheel of Fate[]
Seventh Book to exist and the last book to appear in the game, it was never read by Alice, this book came from a pooka formed Cornelius and Velvet after Alice left then her cat after her and wished that someone (likely aimed directly to cornelius and velvet) should take the attached valentine coin in the book of Armageddon in exchange for the continuation of the main story, this book reads on its own after Cornelius and Velvet left it in attic house of Alice's family, this book shows the last scene of the main story of the game connected to the reality existence in a different century and era where Cornelius and Velvet finally collect all of the coins from the Valentine Kingdom, they soon make a wish and debated it if it should be done or not, to exchange their timeless "vacuum" bodies into a temporarily living human body as Cornelius says, while Velvet explained the fact that being pooka is dangerous because it could make their soul go away permanently without returning to the land, when Cornelius hears this, he reasoned that if they became humans they will die before a hundred year passes even though with that, Cornelius still realizes the dangers of having a pooka curse and finally agrees with velvet to wish to the spirit of Valentine King to break their pooka curse to return their human form and their humanity, they later soon became humans after this and kissed each other and make an oath to live together to the extent fullest of their lives until they both dies of natural causes for the next coming of the last remaining decades of their lives since they we're born in the mid 8th century.

- The game's main storyline events are based on foretold stories of Ragnarök of the old norse mythology, the main storyline of Erion Saga is a reference to the ragnarok storyline of the old norse mythology.
- A korean MMORPG game, Ragnarok Online could be the possible successor of Odin Sphere after its main storyline events, considering the elements, features, similarities and coincidences it has, especially the existence of the "Yggdrasil Tree" in the game itself could be mercedes in her life reincarnation, however this is still unconfirmed whether it is really connected to the game as it's later events, based on the features of outfits and settlements, the ragnarok online game is likely to be taking place around the late medieval period ages in the late years of 1480s.
- Odin Sphere is a game that was originally released by it's game developer vanillaware in 17th of may 2007 and 4th of january 2016 on its remastered remake edition called Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir sometimes it is spelled as "Lífþrasir" or "Lifthrasir" but the game's main place setting and plot takes place at the near end of the 8th century of early medieval period starting in year 784 A.D.
- Oswald and Gwendolyn may have been not Alice's distant medieval ancestors but from a person who was the perspective camera talking to a vendor who gave a valentine coin to it, it is not clear how this person survived during the armageddon event to document the entire story and pass it through generations until it was stumbled upon and read by Alice, if this is true the "two crownless lords" only survival may be a false intact that five people with a possible additional one have survived the Erion Saga event, the other survivors other than oswald and gwendolyn we're cornelius, velvet and "possibly" the person who got a valentine coin from a vendor in titania who was the camera perspective shown after the game credits.
- The game is a spiritual successor to the 1997 video game Princess Crown that was released a decade earlier before Odin Sphere, many element designs of the five main playable characters previously came from the character designs of this game, created by the same game developer of Odin Sphere George Kamitani, who previously worked under capcom gaming company and the atlus ones, before the foundation of his own gaming company, vanillaware.
- Odin Sphere story does not represent a real existing event in the history of the western world or europe, but the odin sphere had heavy and many influences that came directly from the western culture, particularly from the old norse mythology, a folkore genre that originated from the Scandinavia region of europe located in it's northern lands, through it's names with some few exceptions, its theme culture, architecture, features, designs, are all derived directly from the medieval western/european culture.
- according to it's fans and the ones who played the game, the odin sphere has somehow a western/european or shakespeare goosebumps feeling in it's theme presence that causes some of them to became addicted into the game in it's any way of elements such it's story, character's designs or the presentation presence of the character itself, while others gained a fetish trait feeling for the western/european culture which is a desire for someone of non european-caucasian background descent wanting to become one of it, or some became addicted or gaining an interest in cosplaying of fictional anime game or show characters or an interest towards the anime or western culture, history or its people.
- according to George Kamitani in his 2014 interviews regarding the game, the reason why he created the game is because it is his own symbol of love and admiration of the western culture and history, he also said that the cause of his ambitions of wanting to become a game developer is that after he played a game called the black onyx because it deeply affected him the way how sees the western and the world history outside of his own country, this answer of his, in the interviews that was conducted to him in 2014 implies that George Kamitani have a fetish feeling towards the western culture, it's people and history probably caused by the game the black onyx that he played before during his childhood times and the another possible cause of this is that he feels an inferiority complex of himself every time he sees a person of european-caucasian descent that make him feel ugly of himself.
