Odin Sphere Two-Psypher Crossing

Two-Crossing Psyphers (Gungnir and Belderiver)

Psypher are versatile weapons that possess jewel crystals on it's very edge tip or in it's flat cutting part that acts as it's main body, this type of weapon is the most powerful weaponry in the game and the most notables ones are (Almacia, Graveryl, Riblam, Belderiver, Gungnir) which are all used by the five main playable characters of the main story called Erion Saga of Odin Sphere. These weapons also give their wielders access to magical abilities with each one giving a main character, Odin not included, access to elemental magic. These weapons have the unique ability to absorb phozons and upon doing so become stronger and sharper as a result. These weapons can cut through virtually anything most notably dragon hide in which all other weapons are useless against. These crystals are also exceptionally durable as it took a Psypher specially made to destroy another Psypher to break one. Something of note is that all Psyphers seem to be attached to an obsidian black metal even Alamacia despite it's golden handle there is a black butt on it indicating the 'core metal' that the blade is primarly attached to is this obsidian metal.

These weapons also apparently have the power to break spells or curses placed on others as when Cornelius killed Belial it had broken the spell on his heart and his sword also broke the Darkova curse on Ingway. However it is unknown if it could break other curses such as the Belderiver's own cursed powers. These powerful weapons though have a darker implication behind them. Because they can absorb phozons which is needed for new life to come forth, these weapons can halt the cycle of rebirth thus making it possible for them to deny a future of new life. Their difference in color is due to how they were made, blue psypher are from the naturally made phozon's that are born from the Netherworld, while red psypher are made from the Cauldron which forces phozons into crystals. Apart from this there's no difference in abilities or functions.

List of Existing Psyphers[]

Almacia - a blue colored crystal psypher sword used by Cornelius and also his father King Edmund previously in which he used to kill his father Gallon when went into a rampage as the demon beast Darkova. The sword was lodged into his body after his death and when Cornelius ended waking up in the Netherworld Gallon gave it to him hoping to stop Armageddon. The sword get's turned into Phozon's in order to restart the Cauldron after it had fallen silent. In Leifthrasir it is revealed this sword was a present to Titania and had once been Edgar's sword till an incident, this sword also gives Cornelius power of lightning elemental magic.

Graveryl - a double chain red jeweled psypher used by Velvet as her main weapon, it is unknown who created the weapon for her but it was first seen in the story being equipped by Velvet's impostor who was Ingway in disguise when he fights Cornelius and Gwendolyn as a main boss in the elrit forest, it is likely that Brom may be the one who crafted this weapon because of the red crystal color it has, as Brom had learned how to forge Phozon's from King Valentine, however that still remains unsolved, this weapon is one of the four main-hero weapons that had been sacrificed in the cauldron to be turned into phozons to power it. This chain can extend to incredible lengths far exceeding it's appearance, it also has the unique ability to multiply itself, and gives Velvet fire elemental magic usage in Leifthrasir.

Tasla/Riblam - a crossbow psypher that uses a red jewel to fire bolts of pure magic energy. It can fire a great variety of blasts, from smaller bolts to massive blasts of energy to even homing blasts. It was originally Queen Elfaria's weapon, but she gave it to Mercedes to practice with, though she would find herself without when faced with Odin. Upon her death it was permanently Mercedes weapon, eventually however she had reforged by Brom from the Tasla into the Riblam the only Psypher in existence that can destroy another Psypher which she uses to destroy Balor Odin's personal Psypher. Unlike the other psyphers Riblam was not sacrificed to power the Cauldron but instead it remained where Mercedes died in which a giant tree grew around it. In Leifthrasir she gains spirit magic able to summon spirits to fight at her side as well as fire a variety of blasts. Also a special ending revealed that the roots of the tree went into the Netherworld and a flower bloomed next to Ingway's spirit signaling that Mercedes own spirit was at his side now.

Belderiver - a black blade with a red crystal tip, forged by Brom the sword would give it's wielder dark power at the cost of their soul. Unlike the other psypher this weapon has multiple wielders, however they would all fall to the swords curse and would wander the mountain as revenants. The final wielder would be Oswald who would not only use the sword the longest but would also be the last affected by the swords curse at first. He would eventually learn the truth that his soul had been sold for the weapons great powers. He would use this sword to kill Gallon and thus save the world, and eventually his sword would be sacrificed to power the Cauldron. In Leifthrasir the sword would give him control over darkness elemental magic.

Gungnir - a blue crystal equipped spear weapon in it's edge tip used by Gwendolyn, Odin made this spear for his first daughter Griselda who would use the spear with deadly grace. However when a failed attack lead to her death it was given to her younger sister Gwendolyn by Griselda herself. The spear is often said to be quite beautifully crafted and a work of art. This spear would be used by Gwendolyn who would fight with great skill and grace. Eventually the spear would be sacrificed to power the Cauldron along with Almacia, Graveryl, and the Belderiver. In Leifthrasir, it's special attack grows the spear to gigantic proportions revealing the craftsmanship it's long been praised for. Also it gives Gwendolyn command of Ice elemental magic.

Balor - a giant spiked sphere that possess a number of crystal inside, used by Demon Lord Odin he made this weapon himself in preparation for Armageddon, it holds the distinction of being the largest Psypher ever made. He would use it to make threats against Halja and the Queen of the Netherworld whenever they attempted to stop him from harvesting crystal jewels in the palace of their domain. However this weapon was destroyed by Mercedes during her ultimate fight with Demon Lord Odin in the war for the cauldron's seizure control. Unlike the other weapons this is the only one that does not give Odin new magical abilities due to his own proficiency with magic.

Trivia[]
