The Black Sword is the given title name for a black colored book where Oswald is the protagonist, it is one of the six existing books that are part of Erion Saga book collection series that forms its entire main story from every story part of each entire one book as one, it is the fourth book to appear in the game and to be read by Alice in the attic of their house, this book illustrates Oswald's journey and his perspective side of the story.
| Protagonist | Oswald - The Book Story's Controllable Main Playable Character, he was adopted and raised to become the most elite soldier of the ringford forest kingdom and the only one being able to bear the shadow knight title of the elite knight battalion division of the ringford military by a fairy duke after his biological parents we're killed but they we're able to hide him before their deaths, it is unknown where he was found as an infant but it was speculated that it was in the forests of elrit, he became one of the most terrifying soldiers in erion and the only one being able to handle the extreme capabilities of a cursed psypher called belderiver, as it was granted by the queen of dead by the deal that his adoptive father made with her in exchange for his life for the curse power she put in the psypher weapon to overpower it's damage strength, he was one of the two predicted crownless lords in the prophecies along with gwendolyn, he is also known as the true king of titania and the father of the new world, him and gwendolyn restored the humanity by repopulating the world in their bloodline for the last 1000 years. |
| Deuteragonist | Gwendolyn - The late princess of the kingdom of ragnanival that oswald had first seen during his espionage of their kingdom, he was charmed by her looks while she was wearing the dress of her mother, when they faced each other in the battle field to fight over for the cauldron's dominance he quickly rushes on gwendolyn and pin her down while he points his weapon to her but even though with that, he realizes it would be just a waste to kill her and he will not find anything worth from it so he decided to let her go instead, oswald also describes that the war for cauldron's seizure control is a mere waste and pointless for him, the only reason why he participates on it, is because is adoptive father ordered him to do so for the fairies to obtain control for the cauldron's dominance, him and gwendolyn would later be remarried by the orders of demon lord odin whom gwendolyn's father that did not approve their relationship at first but in the end, he eventually finally agreed with it and thus becoming a couple in the later events of the main story after he abandoned his allegiance in the fairy kingdom when his adoptive father during his own launched revolution, like oswald, gwendolyn is one of the predicted two crownless lords in the prophecy and she is also known as the mother of the new world, who are destined to survive in the world's total destruction in the end to restore the humanity by repopulating the world for the last 1000 years. |
| Tritagonist | Melvin - The fairy duke of the ringford forest kingdom who has a lust for the leadership's position power and the feudal leader of the ringford military, he was oswald's adoptive father who found him in the nowhere as an infant that raised him to become the most elite soldier of the fairy faction in which an allegiance he would abandon later after he died in his own launched revolution against his cousin mercedes to overthrew her as the sovereign ruler of the ringford kingdom and take the leadership position from her, his death uncovered the truthfulness of the rumors of trading his life to the queen of the dead for the cursed power in his psypher weapon that gives extreme overpower and capabilities in it, which made oswald feel disgusted and felt betrayed by his own adoptive father, as a result he developed a loathing against anyone who uses others for their own benefit, this is seen when he brutally killed skuldi for using gwendolyn as a bait, melvin also serves as his main boss as well as he exclusively takes orders from him as of being his right hand man and not to any other existing officials in the ringford forest kingdom, oswald's loyalty in the ringford kingdom had disappeared along with his death that still continues to haunt him in the later events of the main story. |
| Supporting Characters | Beldor - One of the Three wisemen from the kingdom of titania, he was the most trusted sorcerer in the fairy kingdom and he was approved well by queen elfaria of his efforts and aid offer in their battle against the aesir/ragnan military for dominance of the cauldron, when queen elfaria was killed during the war, he decided to cut off all of his affiliations in the fairy kingdom as his plans of using them as pawns through her in the planned schemes that will take place at the world's destruction so they will become kings after king gallon, this plan became unlikely to happen because of queen elfaria's death, he was later asked by oswald to join his adoptive father's revolution against mercedes by threatening him with violence but when his adoptive father starts losing the war and that he was killed during his own launched revolution, beldor fled from the fairy kingdom during the battle and went back in the kingdom of titania.
Brom - the former valentine citizen dwarf who offers himself in various nations of erion to work as a psyphersmith, he was the first person to reveal the dark rumors about oswald's weapon in which that became the main reason for him to be overthrown in the netherworld by melvin to prevent him from telling oswald the dark truth about his weapon. Demon Lord Odin - Gwendolyn's grumpy father who has a lust for power, he make come true his marriage with his daughter as part of an agreement for the request he asked to oswald of killing dragon wagner in order for him to be able to obtain the titrel ring in it's body but oswald found that ring and considered as his own possession as he did not mentioned it in the deal request he asked to him and threatens him with violence if he attempted to take it from him in which he later given to his daughter as a gift for his symbol of love to her that gwendolyn later gives to him that restored her honor in the kingdom, as he proclaims which was taken by mercedes after his defeat in battle against her and was later retrieved by gwendolyn who refuses to hand back the ring to him because it was the gift of her husband that symbolizes their love, he did not approve oswald's relationship with his daughter at first but he eventually later finally agree on it and even allowing them to be married in the end.
Matthew - The former valentine citizen dwarf who defected to the fairy kingdom and later worked there as a confidant that give tips and encouraging words for mercedes to increase her morale in the battle against the aesir, him and oswald did not talk through out the story as he only accompanies mercedes in the main story, and even they have met many times in the fairy kingdom as he is always seen in oswald's scene every time that their military would have a discussion about the war that they are currently fighting in but nevertheless they did not interact much during the story.
Mercedes - The child fairy princess later queen of the ringford forest kingdom, she was the next apparent ruler of their kingdom right after her mother's passing, oswald is not really hostile nor a supportive ally to her even the fact that he was included as a unit comrade in their military faction and their kingdom and he did not really pay attention to her as such that much, until his adoptive father turned him against her when he launched a revolution against her to overthrew mercedes from her leadership position of their kingdom of being a queen to seize it from her so he could obtain it and become the king of the ringford kingdom.
Myris - Gwendolyn's personal assistant who guards her as she sleep in the abandoned castle when a spell was casted upon her by her father as an act of banishing her from their kingdom for her disobedient in their kingdom's king orders and the one who informed oswald about it which can only be broken with a kiss at first she did not trusted her due to his allegiance in the fairy kingdom because it was the enemy of gwendolyn's kingdom but when she sees in his eyes that he has a genuine care for gwendolyn in his actions, it earned her trusted later in the events of the main story.

| Minor Characters | Edgar (Unseen Character) - Oswald's biological father who was the former and previous prince of titania before his assassination by the assassins of his own father king gallon along with his newly married unnamed commoner wife whom was oswald's mother, he was first mentioned to oswald by hindel shortly before he killed the dragon for the purpose of demonstrating his psypher weapon's power strength through the means of testing it by killing dragon hindel and he was mentioned again by brom to him to explain what happened to his real parents, after his transport in the netherworld by the halja following the failure of his adoptive father's launched revolution in the fairy kingdom and his death.
Hindel - One of the three dragons that reside in the atop peaks of the winterhorn ridge mountains that was slain by oswald to demonstrate the strength power of his psypher weapon belderiver on orders of his adoptive father for testing reasons.

| Supporting Antagonist | Belial - The kindhearted dragon that was enslaved by beldor to use it as his pet for his own benefit and interests, it is the dragon that aided him in his fight against oswald in which beldor and the dragon had been defeated by him when he refused oswald's invitation of him to join in the revolution of his adoptive father against his own cousin.
General Brigan - The heartless feudal leader warlord of the ragnanival kingdom known for his immense brutality in the battlefield against the fairies, he spotted oswald when he was having a conversation with skuldi during his espionage of their kingdom in which where him and general brigan fought on a single duel, his victory over him stunned general brigan for a while giving him a time to escape from their kingdom when espionage camofladge was broken with his detection of him.
Queen Odette - the queen of the dead who rules the lifeless domain of the netherworld, a place where the sinful souls goes after for eternal suffering after their death to pay for the bad things they have committed while they we're still alive, he faced her when oswald was about to leave netherworld to escape his death when he was transported there by a halja after the revolution of his adoptive father turned out to be failure, instead of killing him, the halja let him live instead so he could suffer even more rather than just having his death, oswald and queen odette fought in the shrine of the netherworld but it only resulted in stalemate and stun of her for a while that gives oswald time to escape from her lair but she was totally immune in oswald's attacks as his weapon was forged by her own dark curse power as an exchange deal made by his adoptive father in exchange of his life in which he would be later be retaken and to be slain by gwendolyn for being reclutant to give his body to her that give effect changes in the main story because her death destroyed the magical chains that ties king gallon in the netherworld prison allowing him to break free from the lair leaving the netherworld to the world of living to consume life.
Wagner - One of the three dragons that reside in the atop peaks of the winterhorn ridge mountains that was slain by oswald to fulfill the request of demon lord odin that he asked to him in order to be able to obtain the titrel ring within it's stomach that was put there by velvet for the safe keeping of titrel ring.

| Secondary Antagonist | Skuldi - One of the Three Wisemen, he was the most trusted sorcerer in the ragnanival kingdom, he cut off all of his affiliations with the aesir kingdom after general brigan was killed as he will not able to use him as his pawn for helping them to become kings that will take place in the armageddon event and decided to make another trick plan for their ambitions by instead kidnapping gwendolyn and using her as a bait to trigger a war between the ragnanival kingdom and the fire kingdom of the volkenon lava pits, as it's king also have a love interest to gwendolyn like much oswald's, he was brutally murdered by oswald for being evil and using gwendolyn as a bait to start a war between the ragnanival and the fire kingdom of volkenon lava pits as oswald hates anyone who uses others for their own benefit that his own adoptive father did to him before, when melvin said to him that he was totally nothing for him other than being a tool for him to become king of the ringford kingdom. |
| Main Antagonist | King Onyx - Also known as the inferno king, he was the king and ruler of the fire kingdom called volkenon lava pits, he was oswald's love rivalry of gwendolyn, like much him, he also developed a love interest of her, the two constantly competed over gwendolyn's love but unfortunately for him, gwendolyn's heart is already made up for oswald himself and she even express her dislike of him despite his love and interest towards her, when gwendolyn was in his lair that was previously brought there by skuldi before he was killed by oswald, he never hurt her at all nor having bad intention towards her but he had an intention of kissing her and so that if she woke up her heart will be belonged to him as gwendolyn had a sleeping cast spell casted by her own father as an act of her banishment in their kingdom for opposing his father's orders by helping her paternal older half sister velvet to escape from the winterhorn ridge mountains from being captured by her kingdom's forces and that only a kiss of a man can wake her up and the one man who kisses her lips will earn her everlasting love, but before he can do such thing, oswald was able to catch up and interrupts him in his ambitions on time, him and oswald fight to death over gwendolyn's love dominance which turned out to be victorious for oswald as a result of it, he was able to take gwendolyn with him back to the abandoned castle that serves as their temporary home for their stay that was later destroyed during the armageddon event when king gallon launched an assault attack towards the kingdom of titania all the way from the netherworld in which the elrit forest where the abandoned castle is situated has been runned through by his undead forces to take over. |
